Curriculum Focus
Math:
Review!
  • As a class and in small groups, we will be reviewing difficult 4th grade math concepts as a review.  Small groups will be working on preparing for fifth grade!
Reading and Writing:
  • Small Group Novels: During novel rotations, students will use details to describe the settings and events in the story to help them understand.
  • Writing: Students will be writing their SAGE End of Year Essays:  Persuasive and Informational
  • Writing: Students are writing FOSSIL Stories:  The life of an organism and how it becomes a fossil.
Science:
  • Students will understand how fossils are formed, where they may be found in Utah, and how they can be used to make inferences.
Social Studies:
  • Students have been placed in Wagon Trains and have their own unique identities which inspire them to take on the challenge to leave “Missouri” and travel along the Hacker Trail to “Oregon.”  Ask them about their “journey” so far!

Curriculum Focus
Math:
Measurement:  Geometry
  • I can classify two-dimensional figures based on sides and angles by using vocabulary and describing the attributes.
  • I can draw and identify lines of symmetry in shapes.
  • Students will create an end of unit project by writing a persuasive advertisement on why his/her polygon is the best.  Students will use the technology, GarageBand, to help them accomplish this.
Reading and Writing:
  • Small Group Novels: During novel rotations, students will use details to describe the settings and events in the story to help them understand.
  • Writing: Students will write an informational article on Westward Expansion, specifically on the Oregon or Mormon trail.
  • P30: Reading: Students have completed the P30 Reading Rotations.  We will be practicing and learning SAGE Assessment testing skills and strategies in class.
Science:
  • Students will understand how fossils are formed, where they may be found in Utah, and how they can be used to make inferences.
Social Studies:
