Rendezvous Information!

Dear Parents,
Yee haw! Grab yer’ possibles sack and ride yer’ horse on over to Parley’s Park! On Monday, November 21st, the 4th grade annual “Rendezvous” will take place.  This is an all day event with activities that are similar to those that were enjoyed at the annual Rendezvous back in 1825 through 1840.  This is the era of the Mountain Men of Utah, which we are studying in Social Studies.
Rendezvous Schedule:
8:30-9:15-Square Dancing/Campfire Sing-a-long
9:20-9:45-Rotation #1 Homeroom
9:45-10:10-Rotation #2
10:10-10:35-Rotation #3
10:35-11:00-Rotation #4
11:00-11:25-Rotation #5
11:30-12:00-Tale Tales/Read Aloud
12:00-12:45-Lunch
12:50-1:40-Mountain Man Assembly with Scott Sorensen
1:40-2:00-Recess
2:15-3:00-Trading Post in GYM
3:00-3:05-Clean-up/Dismiss
As part of the Rendezvous, everyone will dress-up either as a mountain man, a pioneer (Western clothing), or an American Indian.  This makes the whole experience more exciting and valuable for the children.
Our trading post will take place at 2:15-3:00 pm in the GYM.  Your child is encouraged to bring 10-20 items for the trading post.  These items can be any of the following: used books or homemade items such as jewelry, toys, candles, homemade soaps, decorated pencils, bookmarks, pillows, blankets, dolls, fun gadgets, homemade games, etc. No food items can be traded due to severe allergies and new food policies in the district. We discourage spending much (if any) money on making these products.  Use items from around the house. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!  Each student will be earning “Beaver Bucks” in class and will use these to trade for other students’ items.
A big THANKS to Mrs. Wheelwright for teaching the fourth graders to square dance, and to Mr. Webb for teaching the kids mountain man/pioneer songs.

Parents are welcome to come join us at any time during the day.  We look forward to an exciting day on Monday, November 21st.

Thank you,
Mr. Howard, Mrs. Hocking, Ms. Miner, Mrs. Shane, Ms. Taylor
